Taking care of your jewelry

Posted on

I received this question this week, that I thought I would share. My customer wrote:

"I bought a beautiful mixed metals piece from you about a year ago and it seems to have darkened and looks dingy. Any tips on making it look new again?"

Answer: Yes! It is very easy to take care of your jewelry whether it be sterling silver, copper or gold filled.

Copper, gold filled and sterling metals eventually tarnish. This is not a defect of the jewelry but a natural course that happens over time. The intensity and duration of the tarnish will change based on the PH level in your skin, how you store your jewelry and how you care for your jewelry.

It is recommended that you do not get lotions or perfumes on your jewelry or wear in the shower. A gentle polish with the pad included in your order and a touch of mild liquid dish soap, warm water and a gentle blot with a cotton fabric usually does the trick! Keep your piece stored away from the rest of your jewelry in a small plastic bag and away from sunlight to minimize tarnish as well.

Every order is shipped with a white polish pad. You can also order more, HERE.
